Winds of Change

There is a stirring that has been happening in our hearts for a number of months now.  It is something that is building in us as a couple.  It is something that is now beginning to involve even our family.  Our hearts are heading in the same direction and growing more and more passionate about the same things.

When our job situation changed, it allowed my husband to have more focus on his own personal time as well as increase his reading.  So we started reading some of the same books.  And the conversations began as the stirring grew in each of us and became evident.

Here is a sampling of some of the books (in no particular order) that we have been reading...

Radical:  Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream by David Platt

Your God is Too Safe  by Mark Buchanan

Jesus Mean and Wild:  The Unexpected Love of an Untamable God by Mark Galli

By Paul Coughlin:
Unleashing Courageous Faith
No More Christian Nice Guy
No More Christian Nice Girl

Our way of thinking is being challenged, and changing.  I am beginning to put into words to share with you some of what that is looking like for us.  For me.

I want to warn you... as the words begin to make their way to this place, they may not be what would be comfortable.  They may not create a "feel good" environment.

I know as my own heart has encountered them it has been difficult and deeply challenging.  But it has all been worth it as I have found that the more I wrestle through it, the more freeing, liberating, and peace generating it has all become.

I have felt quite silent for so long without much to share.  And now...there is so much that I want to share with you as it is all starting to settle into words in my own head.

Stay tuned...

Have you read any of these books?  What have you been reading recently?  Has your thinking been recently challenged?

  1. I have been so challenged by so many books this year! Radical, Crazy Love, Kisses from Katie... I have more on my shelves to read, but I have to pace myself to process each one - and they are so much better read and discussed with someone else!

  2. Hey my friend~
We've read every book except for:
Jesus Mean and Wild: The Unexpected Love of an Untamable God by Mark Galli

We'll need to find that one.

These books have caused us to have some deep conversations.....as we rethink our lives....especially now that we are empty nesters.

I'm excited to listen in and hear what God's been placing on your heart.

  3. Thanks for the challenge!!! I haven't read any of those books, but they sound worth reading! I'm always amazed and encouraged by the words my friend, Laura writes over at Mercy Uganda. She and her husband are so committed to doing what God is leading them to!

Can't wait to hear your plans.....or should I say God's plan for you!
