Permission to Rest and Listen

Every year that I hear these words from the carol "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear", it is always such an encouragement to me! Have you really ever noticed them or read the encouraging message these words bring?

And ye beneath life's crushing load whose forms are bending low
Who toil along the climbing way with painful steps and slow
Look up for glad and golden hours come swiftly on the wing
O rest beside the weary road and hear the angels sing.
To me they speak of hope, joy and peace all in one. I desire to be intentional in "resting" beside the weary road. I want to take a few extra moments in the spaces of my days and listen oh so closely to "hear the angels sing".

What about you...?

If you aren't already, go ahead and spend some time this season taking the permission you've been given... to rest and listen.

  1. I miss you. I have been so sick these past two weeks since Thanksgiving and it feels as if every task takes three times longer than normal. I am longing for some rest... thank you for writing this and reminding me. Listening for the angels' song with you. Love you!

  2. thank you!

This is one area i am working on, to give my self permission to take a break, to rest, to scale back once in a while.

Which is why I was sprawled out on the couch with 2 little ones watching Clifford this morning!

  3. Awesome post! I've read lots new (to me) blogs tonight, and am s glad to have found yours. Hop you have a fabulous Christmas!

Thank you for taking a moment to stop and chat. I enjoy the presence of you!
