You served him... in love.
Knowing all of the disciples were just hours from leaving You in Your darkest hours, to even death... You washed their feet.
You served them... in love.
Knowing Peter was literally hours from consciously denying You. Not once. Not twice. But three times. Even after committing to follow you even to death. Even after being warned that he would deny you, and then emphatically doing so... You washed his feet.
You served him... in love.
John 13:34-35 (NIV) "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
God help me. Help me to answer the call to love... like that.
Even knowing... especially knowing...
to serve another in that kind of love!
Oh, my....how I needed to hear that and how it convicted me! I've been so bitter and hurt over our church situation and feeling bad toward a few people. I know better! So thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteIt is a difficult call, but one He lived out for us. This is just beautiful Donnetta.
ReplyDeleteWe have a family member who has caused such seemingly needles pain and suffering, and I have struggled to find forgiveness (even though none has been asked for). When I can truly do that, I find He gives me so much more in return. He gives grace to do it and then such peace and joy.
The toughest of calls. Beautiful post, Donnetta!
